Confirming an assignment, and why a client is told when you have not 1 min read

An open monthly planner with two pens
Being assigned to a work order and intending to attend it are two different facts. FSN records them separately, because a client planning a site visit needs the second one and cannot infer it from the first.
After assignment, the contractor is asked to confirm attendance. The confirmation is recorded against the assignment with the time it was given.
If the confirmation has not arrived, the work order shows that state to the client rather than staying silent. The contractor is reminded more than once before the scheduled date.
The reminder links straight to the control that answers it, so confirming takes one action from the message rather than a hunt through the platform.
